The most critical technical skill a professional can master at their station is the precise liquid-to-powder ratio. You are the ultimate control factor in this chemical equation.

  • Too Wet: Contains too much liquid. This causes the product to run and flood the living eponychium, leading to severe polymerization shrinkage (where the enhancement physically pulls away from the natural nail plate as it cures). Since a wet ratio causes flooding and overexposes the client’s skin to unreacted monomer, it will lead to itching, burning, redness, and/or rash. Over time, the extent of exposure also leads to contact dermatitis.
  • Too Dry: Contains too much powder. There is not enough liquid to fully awaken or dissolve the benzoyl peroxide (BPO) catalyst. This incomplete reaction results in a weak, brittle enhancement that appears visually chalky, lacks proper cross-linking, and is highly prone to structural crumbling under daily pressure.
  • Just Right (The Perfect Bead): A perfectly balanced medium bead ensures the BPO is fully activated and the monomer is completely consumed. This creates a structurally sound, wholly polymerized enhancement with a perfectly interlocked chemical chain, ensuring maximum durability and a flawless finish.
